MINISTRY FUNDED SERVICES *The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care funds the administration and coordination of the following services:
Meals on Wheels: S.A.I.L. volunteers deliver hot or frozen meals to clients living both in the Town of Gananoque and in the Townships of Front of Yonge and Leeds & the Thousand Islands. Regular and special diets can be accommodated, thanks to the use of Private Recipes meals. To learn more about S.A.I.L.'s Meals on Wheels service, menu and fees, click here.
Diners' Club: Clients get together for warm, nutricious meals, socialization and entertainment and education throughout our service area. Transportation is provided, if required, to our Diners' Clubs. To learn more about the menu, food source, schedule and fees, click here.
Escorted Transportation: Dedicated volunteer drivers transport S.A.I.L.'s clients to medical appointments for our busiest service. Clients are taken to appointments locally, as well as to Brockville and Kingston. To learn more about S.A.I.L.'s Escorted Transportation service, including assistance with grocery shopping and fees, click here.
Foot Care Clinics: Foot Care Clinics are held four times a month in Gananouqe, twice a month in Lansdowne and monthly in Lyndhurst, Mallorytown and Seeley's Bay. To learn more about locations, fees and time schedules for S.A.I.L.'s foot clinics, click here.
Telephone Reassurance: This service provides isolated, vulnerable clients with a telephone security check by a volunteer, on a regular basis. To learn how Telephone Reassurance makes a difference to clients' lives, click here.
Friendly Visiting: S.A.I.L. volunteers help alleviate some of the loneliness felt by socially isolated clients by providing a friendly visit on a regular basis. To learn more about S.A.I.L.'s Friendly Visiting service, click here.
Home Help/Home Maintenance: This brokerage service allows S.A.I.L. to match a paid worker with those needing help with house and yard work. S.A.I.L. makes the match from a list of workers and the contract is made between the client and the worker. To learn more about these services, click here .
NON-FUNDED SERVICES ** S.A.I.L. is not fully funded by the Ministry. For this reason S.A.I.L. can respond to the needs of the community so services other than those funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are also provided:
Income Tax Preparation: Trained volunteers complete income tax forms for seniors and individuals with low income from February to April each year. To learn more about this service, click here.
Wandering Person Registry: S.A.I.L and the Gananoque Police Service maintain a registry for individuals who are at risk of wandering. To learn more about this registry, click here.
Lifeline Emergency Response System: Trained volunteers demonstrate and install Lifeline, an emergency response system that is ideal for vulnerable individuals living on their own in the community. To learn more about S.A.I.L.'s Lifeline, click here.
Vial of Life: This is a simple yet effective method of keeping up-to-date medical information at the ready in the case of an emergency. To learn more about the Vial of Life program, click here.
